You will love the fishing and sailing around Hilton Head and Bluffton, but you should always keep safety in mind.

1. It is illegal to cause damage to docks, bulkheads, and other properties due to wakes. Be sure to regard "no wake" and "slow zones".
2. Do not litter. There are serious fines.
3. Use local marinas for waste disposal.
4. When renting a boat or water vehicle, be sure to ask for local and state rules, regulations, and license requirements.
5. Feeding the dolphins is illegal in the U.S. Do not do it. They become dependant on human food and can easily get sick.
6. Do not chase sea creatures and dolphins with boats or jet skis. They can get hurt.
7. Pay attention to other water vehicles, fishermen, and swimmers.
8. Respect the Hilton Head area.
9. Always wear US Coast guard approved floatation devices.
