Shipyard Plantation

Shipyard Plantation is 800 acres between Palmetto Dunes and Sea Pines. Shipyard Plantation offers residential living and secluded places for vacationers to rent property or stay at the luxorious Crown Plaza Resort.

The Van Der Meer Shipyard Racquet Club offers 14 clay courts and six hard tennis courts, and they are upkept magnificently.

The Beaches at Shipyard are enjoyed by guests and residents who have Shipyard Beach Club access. Bicycling is very popular in Shipyard, and there are more than twelve miles of bike paths. The tranquility of Shipyard Plantation make it one of the Island's best vacation areas.

Shipyard Plantation offers patio homes, golf and tennis villas, oceanfront townhomes, and private residences. A great place for any home buyer. The only commercial enterprise in Shipyard Plantation is the Crown Plaza Hotel.

Driving Instructions.

  • Coming via Interstate 95, either North or South take exit #8 to Hilton Head Island
  • This is now highway 278: follow straight to the Island (about a 1/2 hr drive )
  • You will go over a bridge to the Island.
  • Two miles passed the bridge take the Cross Island Expressway. It is just passed the second traffic light and you will need to be in the left lane. If you miss it do not worry, get in the right lane and there is another entrance half mile down on the right.
  • Follow the Cross Island, there is a $1 toll, all the way. It takes you to Palmetto Bay Road.
  • Follow Palmetto Bay Road (after the first traffic light get into the left lane) all the way to the Sea Pines Circle.
  • Enter the circle from the left lane (it goes counter clockwise) and go 3/4 around exiting to the right, the third exit, on William Hilton Parkway.
  • Travel West on WHP. After the first light merge into the right lane. the entrance to Shipyard is just before the third light. About a mile from the circle.
