Hilton Head Island's WingFest is held at the beautiful Shelter Cove Community Park, on Shelter Cove Lane, just behind the Mall at Shelter Cove. The annual event, sponsored by the Island Recreation Center and Hargray Communications, features not only the best wings in town, but a variety of other foods and plenty of entertainment, including live music, Kid's Zone, a climbing wall, big screen sports and a whole lot more.
The event is normally held on the third Saturday in March starts at 11 a.m. and continues until 6 p.m. Admission is $5 and parking is plentiful. Purchase food/drink tickets at the entrance and redeem them at the various booths. What makes this so fun is that you can taste a variety of wings and other items for very little money. Don't worry about having to juggle your food and drinks. Tables are set up throughout the park so that you can sit down to eat. Wear comfortable shoes, because you'll want to mingle with the crowd and take in all the entertainment.
While you're there, be sure to visit the new Veteran's Memorial, within the park, overlooking Broad Creek. For ticket prices and more information, contact the Island Recreation Center at (843) 681-7273. Read more about this event and other recreational programs at www.islandreccenter.org.
